History[]
Ba Sing Se's origins are often forgotten to all but the foremost scholars and the seedy underbelly of the population. While the City now stands proudly above ground, it was originally created by Earthbenders as a city that was below the surface, and eventually expanded outwards into the daylight. Now, the underground is all but abandoned by the general populace, leaving it's still working sewers, rivers, and even empty buildings to the hands of criminals who have found the perfect hiding place for their dastardly plans.
